DISTRIKT:
From its inception, The Deep End has always had a consistent goal: to provide a venue for music, dancing, and alternative arts while stirring up a great vibe in the best way we know how. Our eclectic group of people offer up their talents — be it music making, drink slinging, construction craftiness, technological wizardry, performance art, or benevolent mischief. We live and breathe our ethos year round, and look forward to giving back to the community that has inspired us and bonded us together. This is our culture, this is our art, this is our gift.

As we grew over the years, we were compelled to form a legal entity to protect those that have given so passionately to our project. Recently in our journey we rebranded our production on the playa as Distrikt, but have not let go of our original mission. And now, we are proud to say, that after many months of effort and much discourse with the powers that be on what constitutes culture and art, we are now legally recognized by the federal government as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization!

The upshot is that this recognition will facilitate the solicitation of donations to ensure we are capable of operating in the years to come. We can also use this as a stepping stone over time to provide increasing levels of support to other charitable organizations and artists that share our vision. Here’s to Evolution…

The Scumfrog Biography:
The Scumfrog’s impact on the international dance music scene is undeniable.

Since 2001, he has had countless number 1 hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic, whether they are his own records, or remixes/productions with established artists such as Annie Lennox, David Bowie, Missy Elliott, Cyndi Lauper, Britney Spears to name a few.

As a DJ, The Scumfrog is just as fresh today as when he first conquered the global club scene a decade ago, always making sure his sound is just a few steps ahead of the curve, and with his ever evolving sounds he keep impressing both diehard fans of house and techno, as well as novices to the more acquired taste of after dark soundtracks. Whether he is mashing up elements of minimal techno with classic rock and old Motown snippets, laying down a consistent flow of groovy tech-house, or banging peak time anthems, The Scumfrog is always guaranteed to cater flawlessly to the size and feel of the venue, the sound system, and of course the crowd. The wide variety of Scumfrog DJ sets can be sampled at: http://www.glamscum.com/free-scumfrog-dj-mixes/

As a producer/writer/remixer, The Scumfrog remains an in-demand name for productions, collaborations, and remixes from labels across the world. His latest major-artist collaboration was writing with and producing for Cyndi Lauper on her electronic album Bring Ya To The Brink (2008) which resulted in a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Album that year. His own new single All Go Down is set for release on Tiesto’s label Avanti/Black Hole late 2010 and can be sampled alongside his other recent productions on: http://soundcloud.com/thescumfrog

One important reason why The Scumfrog manages to stay on the forefront of the latest trends in electronic music, is because he spends hours each week sampling through new music for his weekly radioshow/podcast Glam Scum International.

Ever since the show’s inception in the United States on Sirius Satellite radio in 2008, Glam Scum has received acclaim from DJs and music lovers and quickly built up a massive audience. In 2009 the show split from Satellite radio to start international licensing and the podcast version Glam Scum International launched on iTunes. Currently, in its podcast version alone, the weekly show is downloaded by over 17000 people each week. Stream or download the episodes at:http://www.glamscum.com/
